I dont use anything. But if I did want to catalog my items, I could very easily make a list in wordpad or make a template in(like you mentioned) access or word (on my computer). Easily identify what processes are running on your PC.

...and check to see if there are viruses lurking about.

I was looking at my cousins pc Sunday, and found myself inspecting his processes in Task Manager. If your system is like his, and has a process by the name of scvhost.exe (not to be confused with the legitimate svchost.exe), then you have been infected with the Backdoor.Sdbot.N trojan. Easy to remove - but some kind of protection (firewall/router/etc) couldve prevented it from happening.
